FAQ

Does this account for Daylight Saving Time?

Yes. Every zone is tied to an IANA time zone (for example America/New_York or Australia/Sydney), and its offset is recalculated on each page load, so daylight saving time is applied automatically. Phoenix (no DST) and Darwin (no DST) are not listed under Mountain or Australian Central for that reason.

Why is India UTC+5:30?

India chose a single timezone offset halfway between UTC+5 and UTC+6 to provide a reasonable compromise across its vast east-west span.

How many timezones exist?

There are 38 distinct UTC offsets in use today, including fractional offsets like UTC+5:30, UTC+5:45, and UTC+8:45.
